You get bad fiscal policy from a fake businessman.

You get bad military decisions from a fake soldier.

You get bad relations from a fake diplomat.

Should we not also expect bad environmental policy from a fake rancher?

Terrorist Judges?

On Sunday morning, Christian Coalition founder Pat Robertson told TV viewers nation-wide that the threat posed by liberal judges is "probably more serious than a few bearded terrorists who fly into buildings." When an incredulous George Stephanopoulos asked if Robertson really believed that these judges posed "the most serious threat America has faced in nearly 400 years of history, more serious than al Qaeda, more serious than Nazi Germany and Japan, more serious than the Civil War?," he responded, "George, I really believe that."
These comments were not made in isolation. In fact, Robertson's statement is only the most recent outrageous example of a growing effort from the extreme right to whip up an intense fear and hatred of American judges — including comments from Republican congressmen and senators intimidating, threatening and even justifying outright violence against judges. The Republican leader of the House of Representatives responded to rulings in the Terri Schiavo case, by saying ominously: "The time will come for the men responsible for this to pay for their behavior."
In previous remarks on the subject, DeLay also said, "Judges need to be intimidated," adding that if they don't behave, "we're going to go after them in a big way."
The strategy is designed to build support for the Republican "nuclear" scheme to break the rules and stack the courts — and it is poisonous to our democracy.

By doing so, you will send a clear signal that this type of dangerous incitement against officers of the law is not welcome in our democracy.

The truth is Robertson, Frist and their kind want judges who can and will be swayed by politics and politicians. What they refuse to admitt or even recognize is that many of the judges they are targeting and hate so are either appointee's of Republican presidents or governors or have strong republican ties.
Equally true is the Republicans are not satisfied with controlling the House, the Senate and the Oval office. They won't be happy until they control all three branches of the government.
Democrats, Independents and anyone not connected to the religious zealots of the far right had better put their differences aside and start working together to stop this onslaught. Not of just our judicial system but of the very foundations upon which this country is built.

White House Stands Firm on Bolton

Declaring that "...a vote for him would be a vote for reform at the international organization, " The White House reiterated it's unwaivering support for nominmee John Bolton.[ source]

Can someone explain to me why the White House, or some Americans have the audacity to think it's up to them to decide if the Untited Naitons needs reform? Is this not an interNATIONAL organization? Shouldn't other nations have some say so in decidind if the United nations is in need of repair? Once again I'm left wondering who died and made the government of the United States, God of the universe?
What makes some Americans think they have the right to tell the rest of the world how they should live, or govern their countries? Is it because we posess a superior military force? Doesn't that effectively make us bullies rather than leaders?
John Bolton is the epitome of all that is wrong in American politics. That the Bush administration continues to support him is clear evidence that kiss-up, kick-down is standard operating procedure for them.
