Bush's True Agenda
Apparentely
he isn't satisfied with an
overhaul of
Social Security . He wants to
overhaul the
tax code as well. It's begining to look like he won't be satisfied until he's guaranteed the rich will continue getting richer and the poor will continue being their worker/slaves.
Incidently didn't he just honor this man (
George Tenet ) with the
Medal of Freedom ? Wonder what the folks over at the CIA think about that?

Of God and Politics
While the so called Christian right claim they have a patent on religious values and morals, I see things a bit differently.
"During the seven year Tribulation period, humanity will seek and serve Antichrist. They will look to him for sustenance and salvation in a time of sorrows such as never was before, or will be again. It is in this fulness of time that men will elect themselves a new king, the Deceiver himself."
One thing is for certain, we are witnessing and experiencing great sorrow (September 11th, the war in Iraq, the Middle East is filled with stife and sorrow, as are Northern and Central Africa. Now Southern Asia has borne great tragedy.)
I keep coming back to the scripture I remember reading as a child.
"...go and sell that thou hast, and give unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me" (Mat. 19:21). The man walked away very sad because he was wealthy. Jesus told His disciples, "And again I say unto you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God" (Mat. 19:24).
I see the great wealth of those in Washington, and I ask myself, how is it that they can claim to be such great Christians? How can they say they are morally superior? That they represent a return to old fashioned values, when all that they do is to the benifit of the wealthy with little or no consideration or compassion for the poor? Therefore I have come to the conclusion that what we are witnessing is the reign of the
great deceiver.
I also remember this...
“Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the Earth” and “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.”
It would seem that the scriptures of the Bible more strongly support the beliefs and attitudes of the left than the right.
The great deceivers indeed.

Who is That Man
Am I the only one who finds it interesting that after four years of being almost invisible, Colin Powell, on the eve of his departure, is suddenly up front and center? I am led to wonder if this is a last minute attempt by the powers that be, to grant him attention, validation and ego boosting in hopes of discouraging him from writing a
tell all/disgruntled ex-employee book, like so many other former members of the Bush administration.
Speaking of books by former members of the Bush cabinet, I see Christine Todd Whitman, the former New Jersey governor who was President Bush's first administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, has written a book (
It's My Party Too ) that touts the importance of moderates to the future of the Republican Party and flays Bush and his team for ignoring the country's middle. Seems that Ms Todd is yet another of the growing list of Repulicans who are dissatisfied with the attitudes of those in the inner circle.
I'm sure Bush & Co can't be happy the book is being released just in time for their upcoming $30 million (or is it billion) inaugural bash.
On the other hand, it is encouraging to see more and more Republicans stepping forward and saying "We don't want the Republican Party to be controlled by Protestant Fundamentalists".
