The Truth Shall Set Us Free (NOT!)

"You can say what you like in the US media, as long as it helps a Republican president. But slip up once while questioning him, and you will be torn to shreds."

Never were truer words written. Unless it were these...

"The role of the media corporations in the US is similar to that of repressive state regimes elsewhere: they decide what the public will and won't be allowed to hear, and either punish or recruit the social deviants who insist on telling a different story. The journalists they employ do what almost all journalists working under repressive regimes do: they internalise the demands of the censor, and understand, before anyone has told them, what is permissible and what is not. "
Or these...
"Anyone who tries to bring the people back down to earth is denounced as a traitor and a fantasist."

George Monbiot makes the case quite clear. He points out what we who do not honor the king (Bush not MLK) have known for years. You either fall in line and worship at his throne or you are stamped, labled and further ignored.

(Thanks to oldwhitelady
over at It's Morning Somewhere for the link to this excellent article.)
What continues to astound me is that only in the US are there people still in denial about this frightening state of our conservatively biased media. CBS was the last shinning beacon, the last holdout for hope and truth. Now they too have been quashed. It is a sad, scary time in our country. The press has been brought in line with the right and the democratic party is being undermined from within. How long before there is only one party? All it will take is another in the Bush royal family to take his seat on the throne and we will have come full circle. A return to the very things our forefathers fled England to escape. Opression, suspression, and no freedom of or from religion. Even England will have moved further forward than we. At least their royal family are mere figure heads. They wield no power and are only good for their gossip value. Our American way of life is in serious peril, who will save us? I see no John F. Kennedy or Bill Clinton on the horizon. All I see is Canada shinning to the north, calling out,
Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me:
I lift my lamp beside the golden door.

Today

Today, as the tsunami death toll continues to rise, as U.S. military fatalities in Iraq,(a war most Americans now believe is a mistake) continue to rise. Today,as a Staff Sargeant injured in Iraq in 2003 is still waiting for surgery (he's been
waiting for 18 months).
Today, as insurgents continued to kill Iraqi police and National Guards.
Today in Washington DC, they party. A multi-million dollar party. $41+million to be exact.

According to the head concierge at the Hay-Adams Hotel “We’re not calling it an inauguration." “Because the president’s supporters believe he has a mandate, there’s going to be, in effect, a coronation.”

“People are coming from all over the world for the world’s biggest prom,”
said the concierge for the Ritz-Carlton. “It’s like a prom gone crazy.”

Contrary to what the Bushies try to tell their critics, historically presidential
inaugurations held during times of war or disaster have been muted, solemn affairs.
Of course no one would ever accuse the Bushies of being sensitive or compassionate. Today, they couldn't care less about the state of the world,or the country.
Today A triumphant George W. Bush & Co plan to party.
Dallas businesswoman Jeanne Johnson Phillips is proud of the work she is doing as chair of the 55th Presidential Inaugural Committee.

“We know the world will be watching,” she said.

Yes, they will, and I suspect the world will be disgusted.

A Must See

"It quickly becomes obvious just how much the U.S has fucked up Iraq ( or as Bush calls it "I-Rarck" ) when the Pentagon starts thinking about introducing "Death-Squads" . Forces which hunt down , kidnap , torture and kill insurgents and sympathizers."

Read all about here... Deathrowuk

Taking into consideration all that has occurred in Iraq up to now, I have just one question. Who decides who qualifies as an insurgent and/or an insurgent sympathizer?.
