How Their Big Lie Came to Be
Believing the ends justify the means, Bush's civilian warriors fooled even our own troops in marketing a war.

Wake up America

"There are moments in public life when all is revealed, when the true priorities of a politician or a political party — as opposed to the boilerplate and blather — stand naked in the public square. George W. Bush had one last week."

And so begins a piece in Time magazine. The author points out exactly how the working man and woman and their children got the shaft, with last weeks signing of the new tax cuts.

"Bush promised a foreign policy of humility and a domestic policy of compassion. He has given us a foreign policy of arrogance and a domestic policy that is cynical, myopic and cruel. He once said his favorite philosopher was Jesus. I assume he meant the same Jesus who taught that "no one can serve two masters. You cannot serve both God and Mammon." Politicians aren't saints, but is it unfair to ask whom George Bush was serving last week?"

Need I say it again.....They lied, they lied, not just about Iraq, but about their but about their intentions all around. Compassion for the working people, compassion for the poor. Poppycock. It's all about the money. More for them and less for us.

Did the White House fleece Tony Blair?

When the White House made their case for going to war with Iraq, they repeatedly said, that the primary reason was because they were certian that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction. Even when reports came out that at least some of the intelligence reports they were relying on were false, Americans didn't care. They sat back, and swallowed every word out of dubya's mouth. The media sang his praises, and damned anyone who dared to question his intentions. France was offically placed on the 'pesona non grata list' and Russia, was delegated to non-friendly status. Now, months later, when the 'fighting part' of the war is over, after massive search and seizure, NO, I repeat No, nada, not one, weapon of mass destruction has been found. Do Americans care? If you believe what you see and hear on the news, apparently not. Does it matter that we were misled? That they lied? I can't think or a worse breach of trust than to deliberately mislead a country into war. Of course now, they (the White House) are backing off the weapons of mass destruction theory and going with 'it was necessary to go after Saddam Hussein because of his cruel and ruthless treatment of his own people and because he posed a potential threat to the Middle East region and to the U.S'. Changing course in mid-stream? Spin doctoring at it's best?
Are Americans upset? Is there public outcry? Is the media asking the 'hard questions'? Nope. Instead we applauded as the President signed a tax bill once again that gives the poor working men and women of this country the shaft. I am sorely tempted to say. Screw it, if the people of this country refuse to wake up and smell the stench, then they deserve what they get.
Everywhere I go in the small town where I live , people don't want to talk about it. They don't want to hear that we have been led down the primrose path. I suspect that if I mention to one more person that our President and his political allies do not have the our best interest at heart...I may be tarred, feathered, and run out of town on a rail. People just simply don't want to hear it. Dubya is king and all that he proclaims is the gospel.

That however is not the case in Great Britian. I read this today on a website called
Counterspin Central
"Tony Blair's postwar tour of Iraq today ran into trouble before he had even set foot in the country when Robin Cook served notice that the prime minister faces a growing crisis over the failure to uncover weapons of mass destruction.
Seizing on the "breathtaking" admission by Donald Rumsfeld that Saddam Hussein may have destroyed his weapons, the former foreign secretary issued a blunt warning to the prime minister that he took Britain to war on a false basis.

"Saying that they can't find the weapons, and they may never find the weapons, blows an enormous gaping hole through the case for war that was made on both sides of the Atlantic," Mr Cook told Chan nel 4 News last night. "That has to be investigated - a [Commons] select committee is one way of pursuing it."

Now, if I were a suspicious person, I might be tempted to think....Did the White House knowingly mislead Tony Blair (after all its not like they are above such actions)? If you are wondering why would they do that...well just remember back to the election of 2000, and Tony Blair's support of Al Gore. You have to admit, the loss of his job, would certianly teach Mr Blair who he should and should not support in the U.S. . Of course by then it would be too late.
By the way, has anyone noticed that President Bush is busy making nice, nice with none other than Russian President Vladimir Putin and that he has stated several times, "there are no hard feelings" toward France for their lack of support during the war with Iraq? What happened to "you're either with us or you are against us"?
If I were Tony Blair, I think I'd be wondering what it was I risk my carreer for.
