Presumptive Democratic nominee John F. Kerry on Friday collected the endorsement of the International Brotherhood of Police Officers, a police union that backed President Bush in the 2000 election.

"After three and a half years of disappointing leadership under George Bush, we need to change course in November and elect a president with a real record of supporting police officers and a lifetime of standing with law enforcement," IBPO President David Holway said in a statement provided by the Kerry campaign.

The tide is turning. According to the CNN polls Kerry has a 5 point lead on Bush. The only remaining question is will Bush go quietly and with dignity or will there be another election scandle or a trumped up terrorist attact in an attempt to hold onto the White House?

How Quickly They Changed Their Minds

Yesterday the right were all over the horrific beheading of Nicholas Berg. It was the most shocking and appalling act of the demon inspired terrorist, to ever be shown on national/international television. Nicholas was a brave young man who had been sacrificed in the name of terror. Their blogs were awash with sympathy for the Berg family.
Oh what a difference a day can make. When that brave young man's Father announced to the world that his son had died for the sins of George W. Bush and Donald Rumsfield, he changed everything. Now, Nick was a foolhardy young man who chose to put himself in danger. He died because someone didn't kick his ass and force him to return to the states(maybe he would have faired better as a prisoner in cell block A, at Abu Ghraib). No more hero status for you Nick Berg. Your Father dared to speak out against the great almighty Bush administration. To hell with you!!
This is a perfect example of everything that is wrong the so called right. You are only right if you are on their side. You are either with us, or you are against us.... Where have I heard that line before? Oh yes, it was their maniacal leader who first uttered the words that have become their slogan.
To begin with, we don't know as of yet who killed Nicholas. The government claims they know , but linquist say that the voice of the person on the tape does not match that of the person our government is claiming is responsible. Imagine that. Our government getting it wrong. Yet again.
On top of that since when did Al Qaeda bother to mask their faces? They are proud of their actions, they have nothing to hide. They are eager to claim responsiblity. So why all the cloak and dagger bs with this particular show and tell? Could it be because the 'so called' terrorist might have been someone that absolutely should NOT be recognized? As more and more comes out about young Nicholas I think we will all begin to see that there were plenty of people who might have wanted to silence him. None of them being Al Qaeda.
We know what the other side is capable of, we are only beginning to discover what our side is willing to stoop to. You must admit the timing was perfect for taking attention off the atrocities happening at Abu Ghraib. We may all be in for a tremendous shock. Well not all of us. But certainly those on the not so right, right.

Why I Support John Kerry

At the beginning of the 2004 campaign season I had no deep loyalty to any one candidate. It didn't really matter to me, I was a true Anybody But Bush supporter. Dean had the fire and the passion that I thought was needed to bring the democratic party back to it's glory days. He incompassed everything that democrats wanted and needed to be saying. I was certain this was our next President. Apparently the people voting didn't agree. I didn't really notice John Edwards until well into the primary's. He had some great ideas and you knew where he stood on the issues. For me Kerry was just one of the other guys running. But, when it came to the voting public, Kerry spoke to them. I was shocked when he won his first primary, even more so when his wins continued to pile up. Clearly there was 'something about Kerry' that was moving people. As one by one the other candidates fell by the wayside, Kerry gained my unenthusiastic support by default. It now appears that when all is said and done Kerry will be the Democratic nominee.
That's fine with me. He's surprised and impressed me so far with his resilience. His staying power and his ability to pull a win out of nowhere. He's withstood the onslaught of trash politics by Bush & Co and has not stooped to their level. His support remains strong and he continues to march to his own drummer. He has shown me that while all those around him are losing their cool and lashing out, he keeps a cool head and stands his ground. He's a quiet man who doesn't lash out, but thinks before he speaks. Some want to call him wishy washy, I say this makes him someone who's not afraid or ashamed to admit he made a mistake, or simply changed his mind. One cannont learn from their mistakes if one cannot admit to them.
No, he hasn't come out with his plan to get us out of Iraq. We forget this man is a war veteran. He sees war different than we do. He knows we cannot just pack up and walk away from a mess we created. This is Bush's war, let him resolve it, or go down with it. Instead he's focusing on issues like health care and education. On taking care of business right here at home. Imagine that. A man who cares about the comman man, woman and child. What a concept.
Most of all I support John because my personal hero , John McCain supports him. No, he hasn't come right out and said he supports Kerry for President. He isn't going to do that. He is a republican after all. It's what he doesn't say that shows his support. The very idea that he would even consider leaving his party to run along side Kerry is phenominal. More than once he's defended Kerry against the republican 'trash talkers'. In fact I suspect John (McCain) and I are die hard supporters of the Anybody But Bush mantra. Fortunately, John Kerry, is a good man, which makes it easier to say, come election day, I'll be giving him my vote. I'd bet money so will John McCain.

Are You Feeling Safer?

Those who opposed the Iraq war from the beginning were concerned that it would only breed more terrorists, and now it seems we've entered a whole new dimension of provocation. The torture at Abu Ghraib has played into Al Qaeda's marketing strategy just beautifully. As if the real photos aren't bad enough, some Arab newspapers are now printing fakes taken from pornographic websites alongside the real ones.

I feel so much safer now. NOT
