A New Day, A New Attitude
Today I watched some of the hearings being televised concerning the abuse in Iraq. I was really impressed by the questions being asked by both Democrats and Republicans. John McCain was phenominal. I still believe that he would have been the greatest President this country had seen in many many years.
While watching I saw several campaign ads for Kerry (none for Bush by the way) they were low keyed, but very impressive.
Later on 20/20 I saw an interview by Barbara Walters with Teresa Heinze Kerry. Listening to her talk about John gave me a fresh insight into his character. I think we are all underestimating John Kerry. He is a quiet man, with great depth, dignity and sensitivity. He has an agenda and he has a plan, he just doesn't feel the need to stoop to the level that the
Repugnicans Republicans operate at. I hope that as time goes on people will begin to see this man
will bring us together, and he will work with others to bring an end to the situation in Iraq and to begin to repair some of the damage that has been done in the past four years.
We all need to continue to hang in there with him, because while we may not understand his way of campaigning, it may well be that as a seasoned veteran he understands this war (not just the one in Iraq, but the political one here in the US) much better than we do.
I have said it before and I will say it again. On his worse day John Kerry will never do the damage to this country that George W. Bush and his administration have done. If I must trust someone it will be him. I trust him with my life, my future and the future of my country, my family and my friends.
God willing we will prevail. We will win in November and the vermin that now inhabits
OUR White House, will be exterminated!!!
Let Freedom ring
Let the white dove sing
Let the whole world know that today
Is a Day of reckoning
Let the weak be strong
Let the right be wrong
Roll the stone Bu$h away
Let the guilty rich pay
It's Independence Day !!!!
Update: A poll at MSNBC.com ask's the question
"If the presidential election were held this week, who would you vote for? "
With 104562 people resonding here are the results:
George W. Bush
37%
John F. Kerry
59%
Ralph Nadar
3%
Now tell me , Kerry is not reaching people!!!!!!!!!!

The Nature of the Beast
"I told him I was equally sorry that people who've been seeing those pictures didn't understand the true nature and heart of America." (George W. Bush talking about his conversation with King Abdullah of Jordan)
Sadly I fear that the people seeing those pictures
understand all too well the nature and heart of the majority of Americans. How else can you explain the fact that despite all he has done, as of right now it appears that George Bush will be elected in November?
After reading
Green Voicemail's ,
Worst-Case Scenario , I feel like weeping.
How can so many people still be so blind? So foolish? How can decent, hardworing, honest people continue to support a man who is so obviously incapable of leading this country into anything other than total disarray? Has our country ever been so divided as it is now? Have the right and the left ever been so far apart?
What happened to bringing dignity back to the White House? What happend to being a uniter not a divider? What happened to No Child Left Behind? What happened to freedom and justice for all? What has happened to the moral compass by which the people of this country have always held ourselves accountable to? Has this country gone mad?
I fear our country is in the grips of the American Taliban,(also known as the Kool-aid People) and the American Bully.

Support the Troops
It's hard to know what people actually mean when they say
"Support the Troops". For some it means unconditional support for the President, the war, and all that goes with it. I'm not sure how that is supportive of the troops though, because by supporting the President you are supporting the idea of the continuation of this apparently endless mess we are experiencing. If nothing else is clear , the fact that we need to make some kind of change here, should be evident. That to me is not supporting the troops. That is supporting the President.
I don't know what
Support the Troops means to
you, but let me tell you what it means to me, and what I do to show them my support.
For me, support means showing support to the men and women actually over there, on the front lines. The people in the field. The ones who daily risk their very lives. Those are the people I choose to support.
Here is how.
Twice a month I participate in bake sales here in my community where we raise money to purchase items for care packages to send to the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. When we fall short, we will all chip in what money of our own that we can spare. We buy things like razors, shaving cream, lotion, soap, tampons, deoderant, socks, underware, and bottled water. Then we ship them off to different units throughout the gulf region.
Over at Ft Rucker they have several drop sites where you can take the items mentioned above and drop them off and they send the packages out. Every time I go to the grocery store, or Wal-Mart I purchase some small thing to take by over there.
I have also started sending books to a guy I met through another blogger and he sends them on to the troops. Did you know that if you ask, sometimes Wal-Mart will give you the books that they don't sell if you tell them they are for the troops? Also many vendors who supply magazines to the stores will give you their unsold magazines if you ask.
There are things that each of us as individuals can do. You can do more than just put up a yellow ribbon, or a flag on your blog.
Now my question for you is what have you done to show your
Support for the Troops?

Globalizing Democracy: Manifesto for a New World Order
I have just finished reading an interview over at
Democracy Now, with author and journalist George Monbiot. I confess until now I had never heard of Mr Monbiot. I will also freely admit I hope he is a lunatic. Because the alternative is too frightening to contemplate. Here is a small segment of that interview.
GEORGE MONBIOT: Well, there is this group of Christian fundamentalists who want to have a new world war, and they want that world war to begin in the Middle East, because they're their reading of the bible suggests if there's an all-consuming war between what they consider to be the forces of Christ versus the forces of the anti-Christ, who could be the Muslim world or the United Nations or the European Union or France, depending on your interpretation. That will bring about the second coming of Jesus and all of the true believers, in other words, people who believe what they believe, will be magically wafted out of their clothes and spectacles and dental fills and will fly up to heaven to sit at the right hand of God. In order to bring about this event where the sky becomes filled with floating nudists. They need to create a great conflagration in the Middle East and bizarrely, weirdly, though this sounds completely insane, these people have a great deal of power within the republican party, and in Texas in particular, at the recent conventions, for instance in Houston, again and again they were thumping this Middle East drum and saying, “we basically have to get in there and back Sharon far harder than we have backed him. We have to get the Palestinians out of Palestine, shove them into exile. We have to get a greater Israel that goes from the Nile to the Euphrates and then we can bring about the second coming.”
For the full interview go
here and type in the name George Monbiot in the Archives search engine. A transcript of the full interview will come up.
Like I said, I hope, nay pray this man's a lunatic. What do
YOU think?
